Why this line exists
A large number of Icelandic hot springs sit on private farmland or inside protected areas. Publishing a location without asking is how a spring gets closed to everyone. This line pays for asking properly, in Icelandic, in writing — and for the local guides and research needed to get names, history and hazards right at source rather than from translated blog posts.
When it is spent: Begins months before departure — permits and landowner consent are the long-lead items — and continues in the field.
