Methodology
Records begin as desk research from published sources, then become field-verified only when someone has stood at the site and confirmed it. Statistics on this site are counts of records in those two states — nothing is estimated upward. Where access, bathing, filming or drone activity needs permission, the permission is obtained and filed before the activity, and a site without it is not visited for that purpose.
